      Distinctive  Design

MALACASA soup plates are both elegant and functional. Distinctively wavy-shaped square plates, the Flora series, are made in marble-like white and grey variations to impress anyone to cater to various aesthetic preferences. The Elisa series is in quality porcelain, timeless looking with delicate details that permit meals either for casual or special occasions.

      Material Excellence

The MALACASA soup plates are made from high-quality porcelain that is durable and elegant. Porcelain is a type of ceramic material produced from kaolin, feldspar, and quartz, fired at temperatures over 2372°F. A result is a non-porous surface on which bacteria cannot breed and is easy to clean. The thermal properties of porcelain keep it warm for quite some time so that your soups and stews will maintain a pleasant temperature for longer periods. The glazed finish is smooth enough to prevent food particles from sticking; hence, these plates are generally hygienic and easy to clean.

      Safety and Practicality

MALACASA soup plates are made in a safety and convenience aspect. Non-toxic ceramic (lead-free and cadmium-free), that is, your food will not get contaminated with hazardous contents. The porcelain construction is for safety in microwaves, ovens (up to 428°F), and freezers. However, extreme changes in temperature should be avoided in order to prevent thermal shock that can cause it to crack. Handle hot plates with oven mitts or let them cool down before touching them. These can go in the dishwasher; however, for very delicate designs, it is better to hand-wash using mild detergent. To avoid scratches, steer clear of abrasive scrubbers and place protective layers between each plate during storage.

      Cooking Inspiration

MALACASA soup plates are functional but at the same time a canvas for culinary inspiration. Their generous size and attractive design make them suitable for serving everything from simple soups to main courses. Enjoy a pan of vibrant butternut squash soup swirled with cream and sprinkled with fresh herbs, or a hearty minestrone topped with grated Parmesan and drizzled with olive oil. Use these plates to serve up a light course, such as a colorful salad made with mixed greens and roasted vegetables. The fact that most of MALACASA's designs have neutral tones creates a perfect backdrop on which you want to highlight the colors and textures of your culinary creation to make any meal eye candy just as much as an affair of the palate.

      Scientific Insight

The shallow, wide design of soup plates is purposeful. The enlarged surface area lets hot liquids cool more quickly to a palatable temperature compared to deep bowls. This shape also allows aromas to waft up and engage your olfactory senses further in the development of flavor perception. The wide rim of this plate gives plenty of room to rest a soup spoon between bites. Being non-reactive, porcelain prevents highly acidic soups, such as tomato bisque, from taking on unwanted flavors or staining the surface.
